love parks week logoThis year's Love Parks Week runs Saturday 23rd to Sunday 31st July.

Organisers are aiming to get 1 million people out into their local parks over the period, with a variety of events organised.

We know how wonderful our local parks are - we have helped restore a few of them to their original glory - and we want to encourage you to get out and visit them.  You can see some details of the works we have done on our Case Studies pages and there are photos on our Facebook page.

Roberts Park at Saltaire has several free events over the week:

  • Jazz and Curry evening on Saturday 23rd July, 7.30pm to 9.30pm - donations
  • Bandstand concert from 2pm on Sunday 24th July, featuring The Rainbow Morris Dancers and Chordiale - free
  • Bandstand concert from 2pm on Sunday 31st July, featuring Fiddle n Feet Appalachian Dancers and Super Johnny K and the Bang Bangs - free


Stanley Park in Blackpool

  • Stanley Park Heritage Trail - a walk you can do any time.  Just pick up a leaflet at the Visitor Centre - free
  • Bandstand concert from 1pm - 4pm on Sunday 24th July, featuring AC/BC and Skaface - free
  • Bandstand concert from 2pm - 4pm on Sunday 31st July, featuring Marton Operatic - free


Heaton Park in Manchester

  • Ben & Jerry's "Double Scoop Sundae" Music Festival with Ocean Colour Scene, Fun Lovin' Criminals, Maximo Park and more.  Saturday 23rd July and Sunday 24th July.  Ticket only £17 per day
  • Health Walks for an hour every Sunday at 11am.  Start from the Farm Centre - free
  • British Military Fitness classes for 1 hr.  3 levels available - beginner, intermediate, advanced.  Meet at Lake Car Park.  First class free

    • Sat 10.00am
    • Sun 10.30am
  • DIY Flower and Vegetable Group on Friday at 1pm.  Hidden Gem Garden Centre (Horticultural Centre) - free
  • Park Run 5km, every Saturday 9am start.  Meet at 8.30am at Lakeside Cafe - free but register first.
  • Fantasy Hats - hat decorating for children aged 4 - 9.  Tuesday 26th July, 12n - 4pm at the Farm Centre Classroom - £3 per child


Weston Park in Sheffield

  • Bandstand Concert from 2pm on Sunday 24th July, featuring Take 2 Little Big Band - free
  • Treasure Trails - join the rangers for an afternoon of treasure hunting at 1pm, Tuesday 26th July


Corporation Park in Blackburn

  • Tiny Tots Walk for children up to age 5.  Monday 25th July at 1pm.  Meet at West Park Lodge
  • Corpy Kids - fun group activities for children agee 6-12.  Tuesday 26th July from 1pm.  Meet at West Park Lodge.
  • Origami 'Orrors - paper folding fun on Thursday 28th July, 1pm - 4pm.  Gate House.

Avenham Park in Preston

  • Extended Health Walk - a 2hr walk to look at the improvements in the park, on Friday 29th July.  Meet at the Pavilion at 1pm
