Project: Corporation Park
Value: £2.6m

Corporation Park is a late Victorian designed public park which was granted HLF funding to restore the whole fabric of the park in line with the original designs gleaned from photographs taken at the time of origial construction. All the park's footpaths were reconstructed and resurfaced with green space borders around the edges. Extensive hard and soft landscaping also took place, with restoration of the lake and water features. Lake work included the creation of a decorative waterfall around the original lake overspill. High quality paving was installed around the main entrance with stone planters for trees and shrubs to soften the effect.

Soft landscaping comprised restoring and replanting of the main Italian themed gardens with grassed areas being improved around the newly refurbished footpaths. Pewter and steel planters were installed on the stone plinths around the park's main steps and walkways and new architectural metal railings were also provided around the lake perimeter footpaths.

Work was completed to the satisfaction of the client and the HLF Monitors with a very high standard of finish quality being achieved with an exemplary health and safety record.
