Located in a semi-urban setting the Castle Park project required a mixture of disciplines to restore a public park facility, providing new footpaths, green spaces, gardens, water features and sport facilities. Also provided was a new childrens' play area together with construction of two new timber framed sports pavilions to provide changing and shower rooms and catering facilities for the users of the Bowls and Tennis Clubs and multi-use games area.

Extensive soft landscaping was required to restore the various themed gardens throughout the park which was punctuated by fountains, ponds and water courses.

Footpath paving was resin bonded gravel or Bitmac with new path edges being installed around their perimeters.

The childrens' play area was constructed with new equipment including climbing frames swings and slides. The multi-use games areas provided enclosed courts for netball, tennis and 5 a side football.

During the construction phase the general public continued to have access to all the main amenities requiring all work areas to be securely fenced off with clearly sighted warning and diversionary signage.
