The client's main focus on this pilot scheme was to enhance the overall appearance of a number of streets on a social housing estate to assist with the regeneration of the housing stock.

Works comprised reconstruction of the main through route carriageways, introducing realignments to provide on and off street parking bays. New drainage and infrastructure was installed before road and car park construction took place.

High quality paving for pedestrian areas was laid in granite stone setts with flush kerbs to the main carriageways. Soft landscaping took the form of small flower beds around the estate with common green areas being created and planting of trees.

Garden walls were built with metal gates and railings being installed on each property.

Residents continued in occupation during the construction phase requiring sensitive handling of communication and work sequences to minimise disruption. We also took positive steps to minimise dust noise and vibration wherever possible.

High levels of resident and client satisfaction were achieved and maintained throughout the project and particularly with the built environment.
