Installation of LLDPE (linear low density polyethylene) liner is underway in Phase 3 of the capping works.  Laying the liner is dependent on suitable weather and ground conditions, but the capping contractors are on site and available to take advantage of any window of opportunity to extend the capped area.

Preparation and reprofiling works necessary for capping areas in Phase 1 and Phase 2 are complete and these areas are now ready for installation of liner.  The preparation works in Phase 2 has necessitated reconstruction of the leachate tower and headworks, which has also been completed.

The Environment Agency has accepted construction proposals for the installation of an additional thirty shallow gas wells in Cell 3 to minimise surface emissions.  The installation and subsequent connection works are scheduled for 24th September and expected to take two to three days to complete.  Installation of the gas wells is less sensitive to weather conditions and is expected to be completed to schedule.

The Programme of Works is currently under review as completion of the lining works and subsequent access for drilling additional deep gas wells is highly dependent on the weather.
